All I will say about Prop 8

I am just going to quote what Justice Carlos Moreno wrote in his dissent of the California State Supreme Courts decision:

“Denying gays and lesbians the right to marry, by wrenching minority rights away from judicial protection and subjecting them instead to a majority vote, attacks the very core of the equal protection principle.”

Thank you, majority, for being allowed to tell me how to live.

Fuckers.

Hey, since we're on the subject of rampant homophobia, what did you think of Nigel's comments about guys dancing with other guys on SYTYCD last week? Matt was watching with me and said "Yeah, Nigel! That's right! Gay men should be dancing with women, the way God intended it!"

Yeah, I was weirded out by that comment. I wish that the dancers were actually good, so it may have been a more impressive display. But yeah, I think it says in Leviticus 23:20 (the lost verses):

"The man that shall danceth with man is an abomination."

"there is an even chance that Proposition 8 will be repealed by 2010, and if not then, 2012."

I actually like the state route better than the federal/judiciary route. We'll still get there, it'll just take longer (especially in more conservative states) and that's no small matter.

But as this issue is eventually decided by the will of the people via state legislatures and popular votes, it will stand. Unlike abortion, which was decided for all states by the Supreme Court and is, therefor, still hotly contested.

I think the Prop 8 debacle will shock and rouse people and incite a quicker rate of change all over the country.

"How is forcing gay marriage advocates to the ballot box a boon rather than a chore? Winning equal marriage democratically in the country’s largest state will help the national gay rights movement. Immediately, the attack on “activist judges” will be neutralized."
